So blessed

Aspen and Mia are both napping right now (that so RARELY happens, I just have to savor this moment!) and I should be packing...but I am not. :) Anyway, this morning I was snuggling with my amazing daughters and I felt so strongly that my Heavenly Father KNOWS me. He knows that I needed these two babes in my life; He knew that they both were meant to be in our family. He knows of my struggles and the desires of my heart. How can I ever complain about anything when I have my beautiful girls and they love me and Malo and they will always have so much love from us. Aspen, our daughter who came to us in the most miraculous way, through the love of her birth mother. Mia, our daughter who came into our lives in an equally, but different miraculous way. How can I ever look at these girls and not feel the love of my Heavenly Father. I am so grateful that HE has entrusted us to raise them and I hope that we never do anything to let Him down. :)

Overheard conversation

Yesterday I was taking Aspen out of the truck after a quick diaper run to Target when I overheard a conversation between two neighborhood kids about 7 or 8 years old:

Boy to girl: "WHY are you moving? Won't you miss your friends?!?!"
Girl: "Of course. But they'll always be my friends."

Wow...I should take a lesson from that little girl. Of course I'll miss my RAD Colorado friends, but they always will be my friends. I will REALLY miss them.....sad....not RAD. (I'm workng on bringing "rad" back!)

Growing, growing, growing!

Both my babies are growing up so quickly! I took Aspen in for her 15 month check-up today! Can you believe she's already 15 months old?!?! It seems like just yesterday that she made us a family...and now she's old. And I should mention that she is CRAZY! This girl has skipped over walking and just RUNS everywhere now!! She is such a crack up and has so much personality. She is such a special little girl! She has started giving Mia hugs...its so cute because she always has such a worried look on her face and is patting Mia's back. So cute. Anyway, Miss Aspen is 24 pounds now and 32 inches tall, which puts her in the 75th percentile for her age...about where she's been her whole life.

While we were there, I had them weigh Mia and she is now 9lbs, 5 oz! So in just under 3 weeks she's put on more than a pound! YAY!!! :)

Aeranee...Washington...

Aspen has a new buddy for life; AERANEE!! Aeranee was out here last week for a week and Aspen just thought she was great. She sat by the bathroom door waiting for Aeranee the entire length of Aer's shower and then wanted to play with her forever. I love Aeranee to pieces; we've been friends since 5th grade, so of it makes total sense that my daughters would love her, too. (Yes, Mia loves her as well...she's just not as obvious about it!!) While Aer was here, we relaxed a lot and hung out at the house. We also spent some time at the park, at the zoo, at Garden of the Gods, took Mia on her first hike, and of course, eating!! :) We went to a couple bookstores and looked at some shops around town and in Manitou Springs, too. It was SO wonderful to have her here; she is such a great friend. :) Yay Aeranee!!

Me and Mia on her first little hike up Cutler Trail:And in other news, we are moving to Spokane, WA soon. Like in the next few weeks. I am not happy about it for a TON of reasons. But when I get there, I am sure I will be fine. It will be nice to be closer to family and my WA and OR friends. But I hate to leave Colorado Springs; this has been my home for almost 6 years and I LOVE it here. So I am not thrilled with the idea of leaving my beautiful Colorado or any of my friends who are here. Especially my sister, Carrie.

Where's the camera when I need it?!!?

Okay, so Malo is in Spokane this week and he brought the camera with him so he could take pics of the town and area so I can make an informed decision when the time comes. Anyway, it just so happens that since he's been gone, my kids have been doing the CUTEST things and I haven't been able to capture them:

Aspen has this HUGE bunny rabbit that's 3 times as big as her and she has been dragging it around the house all day....since its so big, she has a bit of a hard time moving it and she falls and then laughs and snuggles with it. Oh how I want a picture of that. Sad.

And Mia, this girl has transformed in the last couple of days into THE happiest, smiliest little Mia ever. And can I get a picture of her adorabe smiles? No. Am I sad? Yes! She even has started crinkling her little nose when she smiles like I do when I smile.

So lesson learned here....why would I bother needing to see pictures of a place that we may possibly MAYBE think about perhaps one day maybe moving to when I am missing pictures of my adorable girls doing cute things?!!? Sheesh!

Happy Birthday to my favorite man in the world!

Yesterday was my sweet husband's 30th birthday! I can't believe I'm married to such a stinkin' old fart! Haha! :) For his birthday he wanted to take the girls to the zoo, so we went up to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and hung out with the crazy animals. Aspen is starting to be big enough to really have fun at the zoo. Here's a cute video of her and daddy feeding the giraffes.

Daddy's girls ready for the zoo!

Then we went home and my friend Aeranee, who is in town for a week with us, watched Aspen and Mia while Malo and I went to dinner at Red Lobster. Malo had their never ending shrimp and the boy seriously devoured 8 or 9 orders of shrimp! Yikes! :) But he loves shrimp (I don't know why!!! ew!) and it was what he wanted to do. Then we went back home and had ice-cream cake. Here is the birthday boy and his cake, then him making a wish and blowing out his candles! :-P

So it was a pretty laid back birthday for his 30th, but that's how he wanted it. We are so grateful for Malo. His girls love him to pieces and his wife does, too!
